The attorneys in the Public Finance Group of Cameron & Mittleman LLP have extensive experience representing 501(c)(3) tax exempt borrowers, municipalities and state and local agencies issuing tax exempt debt, underwriters, corporate trustees and financial institutions issuing letters of credit as credit enhancement in all types of financings, and the establishment of escrow accounts.  The Public Finance Group regularly advises clients in all aspects of tax exempt and related taxable debt issuance including securities and tax matters, and is qualified to issue opinions required in connection with the validity and tax exempt status of all forms of obligations ranging from TANS, BANS and RANS to General Obligation, Revenue and Deficit Bonds. The group works closely with the firm’s real estate, health, bankruptcy and corporate practice areas to bring a wide range of affordable advice before, during and after transactions. Our borrowing clients in the public finance area include the towns of Bristol, North Providence and Johnston, Rhode Island; the Providence Redevelopment Agency; the Bristol County Water Authority; nonprofit agencies such as charter schools, nursing homes, assisted living facilities and other 501(c)(3) corporations that have access to the tax exempt market through the Rhode Island Health and Educational Building Corporation. 

One of our partners has been on the forefront of drafting and implementing trusts for use in “other post employment benefits”, so called OPEB Trusts, as a result of the changes adopted by GASB 43 and 45.
